Progress in surfing feels less mysterious when you see the steps clearly. Our progression path at surf school Essaouira goes like this: first you learn to slide straight in white water, then to stand consistently, then to angle your board slightly left or right, and finally to paddle into small unbroken waves and ride down the line. Each stage has specific drills on the sand and in the bay.
Because the waves in Essaouira are gentle and repetitive, you can repeat each exercise many times per session. We track your level through the week and only move you to the next step when you are ready. That way you always feel challenged but not overwhelmed.
Ask your instructor which stage of the progression path you are on and what you need to focus on next. Clear goals make every session in Essaouira more satisfying.
